TAIPEI – Pegatron expects to complete expansions in Vietnam and India in the second half of 2021 and begin an expansion at a North American plant this year, say reports.

Market observers believe the North American expansion coincides with the new Tesla factory in Texas, which is under construction, but Pegatron did not elaborate.

The electric vehicle segment is expected to bring double-digit growth each year for the next five to 10 years, according to Pegatron CEO SJ Liao, with electric bicycles and scooters opportunities the firm is eyeing.

It is predicted the company’s 2021 capex will reach between $350 million and $400 million this year. Pegatron may still experience component shortages, Liao said.
