BANNOCKBURN, IL – Total North American printed circuit board orders in March increased 13.6% year-over-year, and were up 17.6% compared to February.

North American PCB shipments were up 4.7% compared to March 2020, and rose 30.9% sequentially.

The March book-to-bill ratio was 1.22, up 20 basis points compared to February. The ratio is calculated by dividing the value of orders by the number of sales during the measured period. A ratio of more than one suggests current demand is ahead of supply, which is a positive indicator for sales growth over the next three to 12 months.

“March was a strong month for the PCB industry. Record shipments and strong bookings pushed the book-to-bill to near all-time highs,” said Shawn DuBravac, IPC’s chief economist. “Only May 2000, with a book-to-bill of 1.23, was higher.”
