BAC GIANG, VIETNAM – A government committee near Hanoi ordered three Foxconn production facilities to close until further notice due to a Covid-19 outbreak, according to reports.

"We hope the measure will be in place for just two weeks, but it depends on the situation of the outbreak,” said Le Anh Duong, chairman of Bac Giang People's Committee.

Foxconn confirmed operations there have been suspended.

"Some subsidiaries of the group are cooperating with the local government's overall anti-epidemic policy in the Bac Giang area of Vietnam," Foxconn stated.

The firm says there is minimal impact to operations after the closure.

Foxconn said its other plants in Vietnam "are still in operation and will be adjusted at any time in accordance with government epidemic prevention measures in the future."
