SAN JOSE -- Electronics manufacturers that never belonged in China in the first place are beginning to abandon it for sites closer to home, including South America, a new study finds. But entrenched geopolitical and other factors mean not each of the dozen countries on the continent is a good choice for a new manufacturing hub.

SAN JOSE -- Flextronics will acquire RIWISA, a Swiss provider of injection molding and automation solutions in a deal expected to take place by the end of October, pending regulatory approvals. Hagglingen, Switzerland-based RIWISA is family owned. Financial details were not disclosed.

FRANKFURT – Second-quarter orders for German manufacturers of electronic assemblies increased almost 10% year-over-year, after two quarters of recession, says ZVEI, according to published reports.

WESTLAKE, OH -- Nordson's Advanced Technology Systems business unit saw sales fall 2% in its July quarter as demand for dispensing products and fluid management components was offset by lower demand in test and inspection product lines. Sales rose sequentially, boosting operating margins three percentage points to 28%.
