SAN JOSE -- Sanmina-SCI Corp.'s fourth-quarter profit grew to $15.1 million, despite a revenue slide of 16% to $2.77 billion over last year.

The company took $18.3 million in one-time charges for the quarter.

For the fiscal year ended Oct. 1, the EMS company's loss grew to $996.3 million from a loss of $11.4 million last year. Revenue fell 4% to $11.73 billion from $12.2 billion.

Communications infrastructure and high-end computing sales fell 5% and 7%, respectively, sequentially. Gross margins dropped 20 basis points to 5.5%.

Inventories rose 7% during the quarter as sales fell 2% sequentially. For the quarter, Sanmina-SCI generated cash from operations of $175 million, excluding charges.

Sanmina-SCI guided for fiscal first quarter sales of $2.8 billion to $2.9 billion.
