FRANKLIN, MA, Jan. 20 - Speedline Technologies, Asia, will highlight Camalot dispensing, Electrovert reflow soldering and MPM stencil printing systems at its booth (3305) during SEMICON China in Shanghai in March.

Camalot XyflexPro HVB dispenser uses a proprietary, patent-pending, conveyorless material handling system and dual dispense heads. Typical performance is three to five times faster than conventional single lane systems. Features DU (dispense unit) pump technology, with positive shut-off auger technology and a continuous flow multi-piston pump with increase flow rates and improved repeatability.

Available on Electrovert OmniExcel Pb-free capable reflow ovens, the self-cleaning Electrovert Flux Extraction System is said to reduce maintenance intervals and deliver a gain in uptime. Consists of multiple, multi-stage collection units located within the heating sections to continuously scrub process gas for unwanted particulates. Automatically collects flux into easy-to-exchange jars and notifies users when maintenance is required.

Auer Boat print processing is now available on the MPM AccuFlex and the MPM AP Excel systems. Demonstrations will be featured on the AccuFlex stencil printer.

The AccuFlex stencil printer is suited for moderate volume, high-mix printing. Combining accuracy and flexibility in a compact footprint, the printer offers a range of expansion options.  Designed for production of about 8,000 boards per week, with two or more product changeovers per shift.

The AP Excel printer's throughput, uptime and functionality are reportedly ideal for demanding, high-volume printing applications. Standard minimum base cycle time is 6 sec. using MPM's SpeedMax high-speed package.

The latest High-Power Target is a transmission target consisting of an interaction layer made of tungsten and a special backing layer that provides improved heat transfer and lower focal spot temperature.

Its construction allows users to operate the x-ray tube with higher energies at the highest possible resolution, allowing for increased image contrast. Ideal for inspecting objects with low-contrast structures, or with high absorption structures.

As a rule, the thermal stress applied to the target increases with decreasing focal spot size and increasing tube power. Focal spot size, however, is a critical factor in determining geometric magnification and image resolution, while tube power influences the x-ray intensity output.

The 752 series compact, low-maintenance dispense valve reportedly applies accurate, consistent amounts of cyanoacrylate adhesives and other assembly fluids on automated production lines.

Pneumatically operated valve has no tubing to leak or O-rings to wear out. Precision diaphragm rated for tens of millions of cycles provides long, trouble-free operation.  A fast, clean cutoff after each shot eliminates dripping, waste and cosmetic damage to parts.

The amount of cyanoacrylate dispensed is determined by fluid pressure, flow rate and valve open time. Adjustable stroke control allows the flow rate to be fine-tuned, while valve open time is regulated with a microprocessor-based controller. Valve open time can be adjusted in increments as small as 0.001 sec.

Ideal for automated assembly machines, XYZ tables and retrofits on current production lines.

BOLTON, MA, Jan. 10 -- DownStream Technologies will release the latest revision of its PCB CAM software next month, the company said today.

CAM350 v. 8.7 will include modules for Fast Array and ODB++ Import. All mid-range and high-end configurations will include the ODB++ Export module.

Company officials cited a growing demand by mainstream PCB designers for new alternatives to Gerber and greater functionality to array PCBs.

Fast Array automates the sub-panel process to quickly array a PCB or a group of PCBs on a panel, feeding the fabrication and assembly process. The bidirectional ODB++ format permits easy import and export of symbols, step and repeat, components and drills.

"We have continued to see the mainstream market become increasingly conscious of how PCB design impacts PCB manufacturing," said Rick Almeida, founder of DownStream (www.downstreamtech.com), in a press statement. "With release 8.7, we are delivering what used to be 'exclusive' technology with virtually every new product we ship. This will allow our customers to design the most manufacturable PCBs they can."

The new release also supports Altium's PCAD 2004 and the next product update of Mentor's PADS PCB layout software, and has a number of other software corrections.

The release comes at no additional charge to all existing customers with a valid maintenance agreement. The update will be available in February.

In a press statement, the company said it plans "several other important" announcements for PCB design this year.

Version 8.7 of the CAM 350 PCB CAM solution makes what was once "optional Functionality" standard in their entry-level Gerber analysis and editing configurations. Includes Fast Array and ODB++ Import and Export modules. Bidirectional ODB++ format allows for easy import and/or export including symbols, step and repeat, components and drills.

Supports Altium's PCAD 2004 and the next product update of Mentor's PADS PCB layout software, as well as other software corrections. The company expects to ship the Fast Array and ODB++ Interface modules to over 4000 existing customers.

Effective January 1, KIC 24/7 continuous thermal process monitoring and traceability system ships standard with KIC Navigator process development and optimization software.

Prior to beginning production, the software selects the oven recipe that positions the thermal process towards the center of the narrow process window. This ensures a stable process while accommodating the natural process drift that exists in any process. It avoids the frequent alarm syndrome caused by a poorly developed initial processes teetering on the edge of the process window. Operates in real-time to warn of an out of control process, and immediately alarms on an out-of-spec situation.
