GREENVILLE, S.C. – Component manufacturer Kemet Corp. announced its acquisition of Arcotronics Italia S.p.A, agreeing to pay $24 million. 

Arcotronics manufactures plastic film, metallized plastic film capacitors, wet tantalum capacitors, battery and film capacitor machinery. It has manufacturing facilities in Italy, Germany, the UK, Bulgaria and China.

Kemet will assume or refinance about $134.2 million of net debt and assume certain other liabilities of the company.

The transaction, subject to customary closing conditions, is expected to close in early October.

No other terms of the transaction were disclosed.

In 2006, Arcotronics had total consolidated sales of approximately $207 million.
