SANTA CLARA, CA -- A notorious burglar who had robbed at least 22 electronics companies of expensive components was convicted by a jury last week and could receive up to 32 years in prison.

Howard Allen Young, 43, was convicted in Santa Clara County Superior Court on charges that he stole more than $3 million worth of memory chips, server boards and microprocessors.

He is scheduled for sentencing June 2. He still faces burglary and grand theft charges in San Mateo and Alameda counties.

Over the course of three years, Young ripped off Silicon Graphics, Agilent, Cisco, Sun Microsystems, Marvell Semiconductors and Siebel Systems, among others, the jury found, often pretending he was a security guard.

Young actually commuted to "work": he lived in Las Vegas and would fly on weekends to the Silicon Valley.

The hulking 6'7 Young is nicknamed "Green Mile," after a large character in the movie.
