UPPER SAUCON TWP., PA -- Lutron Electronics Co., a manufacturer of lighting control products and systems, will create at
least 500 new jobs within five years by expanding its Pennsylvania
operations.
Lutron plans to construct a 250,000-sq. ft. office building, and expand its product evaluation building by some 20,000 sq. ft.
Many of the jobs being created are high-skilled engineering and
technical jobs, which will result in additional warehousing and
manufacturing positions, the company said.
Lutron secured $4.25 million in funding from
the Department of Community and Economic Development for the expansion
and is eligible to apply for up to $10 million in low-interest-rate
loans.
The company already employs about 1,600
workers in the area.
The announcement came about four months after electronics
manufacturer
Matric Ltd. said it would add 64 jobs to it current headcount of 204 following a 20,000 sq. ft. factory expansion in Seneca, PA.
